HELP YOUR STUDENTS TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR DIETS
We want our children to grow up to be healthy eaters. Healthy eating has benefits for everyone. Supporting the New Zealand Curriculum this show aims to teach students to take control of their diets and create good attitudes towards food behaviour. Creating a healthy food culture is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure the health and well-being of your students. Eating nutritious and healthy food increases levels of concentration, increases learning ability and increases school attendance due to fewer sick days, leading to educational improvements for all Kiwi kids. We don’t focus, demonize, or exclude foods or food groups. Instead we celebrate what healthy foods can do for us and how they can make us feel.
YOUR STUDENTS WILL LEARN ...
The MyPlate food groups
We undertake a trip to the grocery store. We make magic money and spend them in the magic store. Different products appear from out of nowhere. Your students end up knowing the food groups that are placed on the plate.
Vitamins and minerals, What are these ?
We hear so much about vitamins and minerals these days but what are they and why do we need them? We’re going to take a closer look at vitamins and minerals which are important for young people, they help them grow, develop and be healthy.
Which beverages are secretly loaded with sugar
Magical Multiplying bottles appear. How do we read nutritional labels? If it is not 100% fruit juice, the top three ingredients are probably water, sugar and more sugar. Students learn the problems caused by too much sugar.
Why drinking water is so important
We will know that water is even more important than food to our body because - our body is mostly water. Our body has lots of important jobs and it needs water to do many of them. We show that water is not a simple liquid - it’s full of magic!
The importance of breakfast
Breakfast - a great way to start the day! Eating breakfast actually makes school easier for students because it provides them with better focus and speeds response times in class. Skipping breakfast can make you an airhead.
How to develop better snacking habits
Breaking bad habits. Snacking smarter is easier when students form good habits - so they learn how eating a candy bar for example, can easily become a bad habit if they’re not careful.
... and all the while, they’ll be ...
